We are here together

In the midst of a breaking time within health and well-being, it may be good to remember that we are here together. The struggle between the conventional health system and other ways of healing in order to treat patients makes no sense. It is either not a question about struggling in order to prove which theories or experiences are most valuable. It's about creating new opportunities together in relation to new knowledge and new life values.

We are here together on the globe and hopefully for the best of all. After all it is the patients' experiences on his or her own body that we must listen to and rely on. It is our most important tool to listen to the patient.

With the "body" I mean the entire body, in fact mental, physical and spiritual well-being. To me it is all interconnected while we are alive.

I appreciate the many good treatment and examinations the conventional health system is offering, which may be beneficial for the patient according to his/hers experiences. Many patients experience that they receive very well relief of their symptoms in conventional health systems. Others, unfortunately, experience the shock in their body it may be to receive a serious life threatening diagnosis and to be maintained in the suffering by the diagnosis. These people use the health care system with greater awareness and it is in some way appropriate since the healthcare system is so pressurised that it can be difficult to give all patients the time and attention they need.

However, I can still feel some despair on behalf of the patients, who are stuck in the conviction, that there is only one way to "well being" since I am also witnessing other "patients" who are relieved from their chronically diagnosis in different ways. These patients take responsibility for their own well being and use several different healing ways at the same time including the conventional.

The conventional healthcare system may give the patient the impression, that life and diseases are stationary. It may risk maintaining human beings in suffering, in contrary to our aim as healers and doctors.

The medical dogmas that I experience as particularly limiting in order to maintain people in suffering are the following;

1) Causal treatment; Medical science often makes us believe that it is giving causal treatments. At present, there are quite a few causal treatments, as we rarely know the cause (s) of the individual’s suffering and diseases.

2) Evidence; Evidence is most commonly used as “an exclusive statement” rather than opening to a true scientific discussion (science = creating knowledge).

Non-medical science-based experiences are mostly rejected with the statement, that it is not evidence-based knowledge. When "life is not proven" with the tools medical science uses, the knowledge is mostly ignored and we loose the possibility to gain more knowledge.

Evidence cannot be used directly on a single individual, that is the patient sitting directly in front of us.

Evidence is based on theories and group-based researches that gives us a snapshot of a bunch of individuals who are already physiologically and mentally and perhaps even socially transformed after the experimental circumstances have taken place. In other words, we cannot refer to it and us these general and past happenings for the patient right in front of us, believing we know something that we really do not know, neither about the group of people nor the patient in his or hers actual situation.

To refer to evidence is to refer to dogmatism almost like a religion, something natural science has distanced itself from through years.

Beliefs and Evidence has been a necessity, and perhaps it still is for many people, in this case it is valuable to talk openly how it may contribute and limit the understanding of ourselves and our possibilities. Fortunately, this knowledge has become more common to many patients, since their own experience show them that the many health advises and treatments rarely keep their promises.

3) Death: How to die of as a human being and what may be “the right way” and time to die?

Death is still a taboo, and in a sense, a dogma, since we mostly agree silently on not talking about it. A humble and respectful conversation about how we may imagine life’s ending here and now in a life-threatening situation and what a person may fear most about death, would be so appreciable, so that we can relieve them the best way. Supporting this process is more knowledge about near-death experiences from the many people who has experienced it. It may open to less fear of death, and even to more joyful living no matter how long time we may have left in this lifetime on earth.

Anxiety is currently straining on the health system by the many healthy people who are anxious about invisible symptoms and want examinations.

These are some observations I have from where I am now and from where I have been, since I know the conventional health-care system and many other healing ways, and I regularly listen to many “patients” experiences, including my own.

Medical science is very good in treatment of acute conditions. Anyway it has its limitations just like any other treatment where people think they can leave the responsibility for their own lives and well-being in the hands of another human being.

It may be difficult to realise as a doctor and healer, in fact all human beings, that we cannot take responsibility for the lives of another human being unless they have directly chosen to give it to us and we consciously choose to take that responsibility, with all that it implies, knowing that death can never be fully controlled by humans and that healing and true freedom and happiness arises from within.

The people (and children) who are unable to make conscious choices and take full responsibility, we can always help in the best human way, in cooperation with their relatives.

We are here together for the best of all in life and in death, although sometimes it may seem different.
