Sensitivity ( only for adults )

We are sentient beings, and we sense with our entire body all the time. We are always online.

It is essential to understand and rediscover our own sensitivity, as we may understand the many sensations we continuously receive, and relate to them in a constructive way. Sensations that we may have ignored or avoided in the risk of feeling wrong if they were expressed.

When we see how unique each person is, it is natural that we may sometimes experience our self as wrong, especially if others with a greater conviction in their voice and body language are judging what is right and wrong entirely from their own sensations.

There are no right and wrong perceptions. We all have our own unique instant sensations.

We sense with the entire body also the brain through the thoughts and beliefs we receive.

In full body awareness, when we are resting in the heart with a desire to understand, all is sensations, which passes through our physical body. A feeling is discovered, observed and passes on. A body sensation is discovered, observed and passes on. A conviction is discovered, observed and passes on. And it all happens simultaneously.

However mostly we are taken by external demands and impressions, which distract us and keep us stocked in the automatic pilot restrained by the intellect’s inner or outer dialogue. Nevertheless we can practise through awareness training, and gradually become more aware of our reactions, and learn to bring our state of being into our state of doing.

It is indeed very essential to become aware of our own sensations. It could be compared with the child’s way of exploring the world. From the time, where we didn’t master the language, and where we learned through our sensations and communicated with our body.

As an adult our intellect is often hindering us in experiencing our sensations. For some people it may be uncomfortable and indeed downright scary to begin to realise how they really feel and think, from thought to toe. So it is essential to find our own path and pace with it. There are very good reasons why it can be difficult: social and cultural norms and previously trauma often play a role in daring to be ourselves and feel and contain our emotions. Like the brave man who carries the pain, and the courageous woman who caries the emotions, both experiences may be equally unpleasant. And it takes time for practise to learn to contain emotions, in the sense of giving space to each other, and ourselves without harming each other and ourselves.

Also each of us is unique in our sensitivity according to our favourite “incoming-channel" and the experience of intensity. Some people are mainly sensitive to sounds, sights, touches, words, vibrations, smell, tastes and some for all of it. Perhaps it brings an understanding of the many different talents we are.

Sensitivity as a full-bodied experience by our consciousness may be understood by the imagination of an awaken and full bodied sensitive child, compared with a more or less entirely intellectual reflecting adult. We have become “ head humans” in the sense of a human who is more or less separated from the lower part of the body.

The intellect’s fear of loss of control often prevents the process of rediscovering our sensitivity.

This process requires spaciousness, in the meaning of being able to forgive each other and our self, when we lose ourselves for a while taken by a perception whether it is a belief, a feeling, or a body sensation that dominates. Fortunately we are all just humans, a state of being which can be joyful and inspiring for the benefit of each other and ourselves, especially if we share and love our sensitivity.
